Volkswagen has released images of its Touareg R50 ahead of the SUV's Australian Motor Show debut. Continuing with the R-series performance treatment — such as with the Golf R32 and the new Passat R36 — VW claims that the Touareg R50 "is one of the most powerful SUVs in the world."
The Touareg R50 is based on the Touareg V10 TDi. While VW didn't announce the R50's power ratings, it did reveal in a press release that it would have "generous" increases over the V10 TDi's 313 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque.
In addition to the boost in power, the R50 will also sport larger wheels and sport tires, a revised suspension and R-specific interior and exterior features.
The Touareg R50's official unveil is set for October 11, so check back for more details.
