Toyota Venza Crossover

Toyota is riding the new trend wave with its own version of the crossover, this time combining the performance of a sedan with the functionality of an SUV. Nothing new there but we expect the Toyota Venza to become a solid player in the segment.

"It will cater to buyers who are looking for the value and reliability of a Camry, the comfort and upscale refinement of an Avalon, and the utility and functionality of a Highlander SUV in one very stylish and sporty package." said Bob Carter, Toyota Division group vice president and general manager.

The Toyota Venza has been specifically designed for the North American market, and it will not leave North America either. Which is just as well really since it is nothing more than a station wagon with a higher ride height.

The front fascia looks good with its very distinctive grille and headlights, while the rear is adorned with an angled rear hatch, rear spoiler and wide wraparound tail lights. There are two engines available, a 2.7 liter four-cylinder (no specs available yet) and a 3.5 liter V6 with 268 hp and 246 lb. ft of torque. Both use a six-speed sequential shift automatic transmission in are available as either Front- or All-Wheel-Drive.

The car measures 189 inches in length, is 75 inches wide, 63.4 inches high, has a 109.3 inch wheelbase and a ground clearance of 8.1 inches. The V6 rides on 20 inch alloy wheels (245/50R20) while the 4-cylinder comes with either 19 or 20 inch alloys.
